Fall is here! With a chill in the air and the leaves changing color, we're experiencing one of the best seasons that the Midwest has to offer. This weekend, we spent some time with the Francis family, celebrating Bompy's birthday. We're still enjoying the Francis garden- this week we snagged some pumpkins and gourds to brighten up our house and bring a bit more of fall into the Pullman neighborhood. Each season still feels like a new experience with Molly. She's seen a couple of Octobers already, but everything is still so new. This year she can describe what's she experiencing and ask questions about this beautiful world. So here's a little sensory summary for you of what our life is like this fall.
Fall looks like... colorful leaves, chalk drawings, piles of library books waiting to be devoured by our little girl, watercolor paintings, sweet hand-me-down sweaters and jackets, and piles of pumpkins waiting to be carved.
Fall feels like... warm blankets on the bed, slobbery kisses from Molly and Jayden, papery piles of leaves in the yard and finding their way into our living room, cool early morning breezes while I'm out for my run, squishy play- dough at little lambs playgroup, and tackle hugs from Molly for Daddy and Mommy.
Fall smells like... poopy diapers! and the occasional potty chair accomplishment, candles lit in the early morning, crockpot meals simmering, and Michigan vineyard ready for harvest.
Fall sounds like... babies fussy for naps, Dave composing some brilliant paper on the computer, Molly sweetly singing "Jesus loves me", Jayden gurgling and cooing the way only little babies can, the time out timer going off after 2 minutes, the clang clang of the train bringing Dave home to us.
Fall tastes like... our annual blueberry pie for Bompy's birthday, pumpkin pancakes covered in syrup on Sunday morning, my daily cups of coffee, sack lunches for Dave- packed with love!, penguin crackers/raisins/fruit snacks that Molly find in her carseat, Niagara and concord grapes from the farm.
