Creepy, Crawly, Spooky!

We had a great week... mostly getting back in the swing of things and knocking things off our to do lists. I'm getting antsy about Baby Boven, so this week we got the bags packed, names worked on and the nursery room all cleaned and organized. We had an ultrasound on Friday night and got to see some sweet 3D shots of our little one. Maxi Waxi was sucking on fingers and was positioned just right for his or her big day. Maxi's weighing in at an estimated 6 lbs 2 oz, already a pound bigger than Molly when she was born! Now we just get to be patient while we wait for the big day, whenever that might be!

While Maxi definitely has some creepy, crawly, swimmy kicky moments, we experienced some other creepy things this week. On Wednesday, we took Violet to visit her mom at work at the Field Museum. Laura gave us a behind the scenes look at some bits of the conservation/preservation work being done. A definite highlight was the room full of flesh eating beetles, gnawing off bird and mammal bits so that scientists can preserve the skeletons!!!! Our friend, Dan, gave us a sneak peak at his work in exhibit design and building too.

We finished off the week at the Moes Family Pumpkinfest. Dave wowed everyone with his Maltese cross (an ode to the Venerable Order of St. John) and Molly and I went all prehistoric with a dino scene. Our jack o'lanterns didn't win first prize... but there's always next year!

The classic baby profile... looking good, Maxi!

Sweet little face!

Who needs a pacifier? Maxi is already learning to suck a thumb!

Underground Adventure at the Field Museum! (No, the flesh eating beetles weren't that big! Sorry we don't have any pics to prove that we saw them!)

Big footprints to follow in! Molly with the Apatasaurous print!

A sauropod leg bone. Violet is snoozing in the background. I guess when your mom works at the museum, all this stuff must seem lame after a while! :)

Swimming with Coach Carly! Molly switched to a class that is just her speed, this week. Her favorite thing is "noodle time". Not so favorite - sticking her face in the water!

Blowing bubbles and talking to the fish.

Getting ready to "jump"! Molly jumps by letting someone throw her into the water. I think Coach Conner looks like the grimm reaper of the swimming pool.

Molly and her two buds... making their boat go by being little motors.

A new haircut and new wooden shoes from Nana and Papi! Now we're ready for Sinterklaas!

Getting ooey gooey!

Some serious carvers!

The finished products! Ours are the two closest to Dave and Molly!

Voting on pumpkins... a tough decision!

A few of our spooky creations!
