We are celebrating spring here in the beautiful Midwest. This week brought lots of sunshine, flowers, and higher temps. We busted out the shorts, wiped off the old tricycle, and spent lots of time picnicking in the back yard. For me, I think there is no better way to eat than sprawled out on a blanket with some finger food. With a two year old, it gets us out of the kitchen and away from the endless requests for "something different" - Molly is more or less stuck with the couple of things I've hauled outside. And the clean-up is a breeze- just brush the crumbs off the blanket and you're good to go. My challenge this year is that Molly has turned out to be her father's daughter when it comes to sun exposer. She prefers a dark, shady spot to the warm and glorious sun. When asked to "reach for the sunshine" this week at swimming lessons, Molly told her instructor that she didn't like the sun. She ended up reaching for the moon instead. What to do! So far, I'm combating sun hatred with lots of fun outside activities like planting seeds, tricycle riding, worm hunting, and ant following. We've got two pairs of sunglasses, a super duper wide brimmed sun hat, lots of sunscreen and a mama that won't give up on her two shady spoil sports. Bring on the sun!
