Booking It!

Our little Molly is quite the reader these days. She's always loved books, and now she seems to be getting the concept that the words on a page mean something. The other day, while I was bagging my Aldi groceries, Molly was perusing the Aldi catalog... she came up to me and said, "Mama, this has words on it, what does it say?" It's so exciting to see those moments of revelation. She has progressed from the couple of words per page books to stories with a few sentences per page and she even hangs in there for the odd page with no picture. Our family loves any book by Mo Willems (Pigeon books, Elephant and Piggie, Knuffle Bunny, Leonardo the Terrible Monster), and now Molly is starting to get into Little Bear books (those were my favorites when I was little) and Dr. Seuss. She can quote "I can't blab such blibber blubber! My tongue isn't made of rubber" from Seuss' Fox in Sox. When we make our weekly drop by the library, I try to pick up at least one classic picture book and at least a couple with a solid plot line. Molly gets wrapped up into the story line. When Dave reads our Bible story, Molly asks, "What happens next?" without fail, every night. As far as the actual decoding goes, we have a ways to go. Molly can recognize a few letters- M for Molly, D for Daddy, sometimes S for snake and B for Boven. But look out, Pizza Hut, this bookish babe will be all over Book-It before we know it!

Beards! Like father, like daughter!

Mom and Dad Francis came out for the Pullman CRC craft fair. This was Dad's craft fair debut for his blacksmith and welding pieces. We sold our beautiful Francis Fruit Farm honey too.

Wow! Check out that fashionista in the zebra dress! Dave rocks those khakis too!

Molly has been getting into Snow White recently. We showed her a couple of the songs from the movie on Youtube after she played with the dwarves in Grammy's bathtub. Now we have to dress up the doll so she can whistle while she works!

We set up our nativity this weekend, one box at a time. Molly is fascinated!

He is coming! For advent, we're wrapping up some of our special Christmas books and picking one to unwrap on Sundays. My goal is to one day have enough Christmas books to do every day of December.

Advent chocolates! This was a Francis family tradition too.

Ahh the library. :) Molly does a lot of reading on the potty.
