Kindergarten!!!

It's a Boven Blog back to school special!!! In celebration of Molly's start to Kindergarten, I'm going to try to fire up the old blog. We are so proud of our little schoolgirl and so excited to see all that she will accomplish!

Molly started Kindergarten on September 8 and she is attending a Chicago Public Schools Regional Gifted Center. Her teacher this year is Ms. Flaherty. School starts early, so we're out the door by 7:15 to drop her off in time to line up with her class. Molly gets done at 2:45 and rides the bus back to our school down the block. So far, Molly has been experiencing the ups and downs of school... the first few days were joyful and then the realization that school is forever set in! She's been a bit homesick and tears up most days as she's heading into Lenart. We've read all the books about being brave in Kindergarten, have talked about building up our courage muscles, and Molly is sent out the door with one of my necklaces each day as a reminder of home. Thanks to the book "The Kissing Hand", Dave and I get to plant at least 3 kisses on each hand to last her through the day. As far a I can tell, the tears mostly stop during the day, starting again once and a while at recess. Molly really loves her teacher and has great things to say about her classroom jobs - messenger and pencil captain- and she is enjoying gym, music and French. I'm confident that she'll be loving every minute of school before we know it. THE ADVENTURE BEGINS! :)

One week before school began... ready to take on the world!

After school ice cream and a cutie in her gym uniform. :)

This weekend, I volunteered at Sand Ridge Nature Center's Archaeology Day... Greta barely recognized me in my pioneer costume! :)

Budding archaeologists digging for treasure!
